Phobjikha

Phobjikha geog is located in the east-central part of the Dzongkhag. The geog has a vast stretch of valley. Phobjikha is made up of 8 villages (Gangphel, Radhay, Wangchen, Tangchen, Kethang, Jangchen, Dogsar and Dangpa) and consists of 282 no. of households. Phobjikha consists of an estimated area of 138.20 sq km, with an altitude ranging from 2800 to 4000 meters above sea level. The terrain is also rugged but most agriculture lands are situated on gentle slopes to valleys, mostly under agricultural cultivation. This area is a livestock area priority for the Dzongkhag. The climate is alpine and receives snowfall in winters. Potato is the dominant cash crop. It is the home to the black necked cranes, with potential for eco-tourism. There are 2 community primary schools (Phobjikha CPS & Rameychen CPS), 1 GR II BHU, 1 Gup’s office in Dazejab, 1 post office agent and shares RNR services with Gangtey.
