Dasho Dzongda and Dzongkhag Agricultural Officer and team visited the farmers group at Habesa, Gasetshowom Gewog under Wangduephodrang Dzongkhag on 3rd Jan 2018. The group consisting of 19 farmers who started winter vegetable production in 4.57 acres at commercial level had been started under the aegis of the Dzongkhag Agricultural Sector with the objective of producing organic vegetables for better health, utilization of fallow land in winter and enhancing Import substitution. The winter vegetables grown are Cabbage, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Radish, Garlic, Bunching Onion, Sag and Coriander. The earnings are between Nu. 50,000 and Nu. 300,000/- per winter season by each Household. The Dzongkhag had been supporting such groups in all the 15 gewogs through Agricultural inputs supplies, Sprinklers and Sintex, Seeds, shed nets, Electric fencing materials, Technical support and Trainings on pests and disease management. Regular monitoring and technical advice are also provided through the agricultural extension workers in the gewogs.
