The 11th FYP Terminal Review Meeting and discussions on draft 12th FYP for WangduePhodrang Dzongkhag was conducted successfully this morning chaired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister and attended by Hon’ble Health Minister, MP, GNHC Secretary, officials from various ministries, Regional heads, sector heads, Local Govt. Leaders and the general public of 15 gewogs under Wangdue Phodrang Dzongkhag.

ICT Unit of Wangduephodrang Dzongkhag Administration has successfully conducted the training on basic ICT skills to non ICT staffs of Wangduephodrang  Dzongkhag  Administration on 8th February, 2018 in DT Hall. The objective of the training was to train non ICT staffs especially the support staffs on basic computer troubleshooting services. This training would reduce the turnaround time spent by ICT professionals in providing ICT supports. 

Wangduephodrang Women’s Cricket team won the national championship title for 2017- 2018 and Under 16 boys bagged runner up trophy in the National Inter Dzongkhag Cricket Championship for 2018 from the 5 participating districts. 

The senior women's team bagged the Championship title for the year 2018 at Gelephug organized by Bhutan Cricket Council Board.

Hon’ble Minister for Ministry of Works & Human Settlement, Lyonpo Dorji Choden graced the inauguration of 11.5 km black-topped Gangtey-Phobji GC road on 10th January 2018. The black-top work was executed by the Department of Roads. The inauguration was attended by the Dzongdag, Dzongrab, officials from MoWHS, Phobji & Gangtey Gewog Chairman, and staffs from Dzongkhag & Gewogs.

Following the inauguration of the GC road, Hon’ble Minister met with the public of Gangtey & Phobji gewog and shared His Majesty’s vision, aspirations and concerns with the public. The Minister also updated on the implementation of activities in the 11th FYP during the meeting with the public.

The National Commission for Women and Children (NCWC) also sensitized the public on roles and responsibilities of the Commission, Domestic Violence Prevention Act, Child Care & Protection Act, and Child Adoption Act. Over 200 public attended the meeting.

 

 

The Dzongkhag Administration, Wangduephodrang would like to invite airfare quotation from the eligible ticketing agent for the Education Sector as per the itenerary provided below:

Dasho Dzongda and Dzongkhag Agricultural Officer and team visited the farmers group at Habesa, Gasetshowom Gewog under Wangduephodrang Dzongkhag on 3rd Jan 2018. The group consisting of 19 farmers who started winter vegetable production in 4.57 acres at commercial level had been started under the aegis of the Dzongkhag Agricultural Sector with the objective of producing organic vegetables for better health, utilization of fallow land in winter and enhancing Import substitution. The winter vegetables grown are Cabbage, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Radish, Garlic, Bunching Onion, Sag and Coriander. The earnings are between Nu. 50,000 and Nu. 300,000/- per winter season by each Household. The Dzongkhag had been supporting such groups in all the 15 gewogs through Agricultural inputs supplies, Sprinklers and Sintex, Seeds, shed nets, Electric fencing materials, Technical support and Trainings on pests and disease management. Regular monitoring and technical advice are also provided through the agricultural extension workers in the gewogs.

The public gathered at Military Training Ground, Tencholing, where various cultural programs are showcased by the students, Wangdue Rabdey, RBA and the Dzongkhag Dancers to mark the day. Dasho Dzongdag graced the event.

Honorable Dasho Dzongdag conferred the Royal Civil Service Award 2017 to 63 civil servants and Service Pins to 118 De-suups at Dzongkhag Tshogdu Hall of Dzongkhag Administration, Wangdue Phodrang on 15th December 2017.

Out of 63 officials, 50 received Bronze Medal, 8 received Silver Medal and 5 received Gold Medal respectively for 10 years, 20 years, and 30 years and above dedicated service to the Tsa-wa-Sum.

Dasho Dzongdag addressing the Award Ceremony stated that the Award Ceremony initiated by the government at the command of His Majesty the King signifies the recognition of dedicated contribution and unwavering hard work of all the recipients. Dasho congratulated each of them by awarding the medal and the certificate.

 

Coinciding the Royal Civil Service Award, Dasho also conferred Service Pins to 118 De-suups of Wangdue Phodrang Dzongkhag for actively contributing their sincere service to the Nation during natural calamities, national/public events, and religious discourse in the nation. These Pins are awarded to instill a feeling of pride and enhance the spirit of volunteerism among the De-suups. The Service Pins are representation and appreciation from His Majesty the King for the sincere and dedicated service of a De-suup. The Pin should be worn on the De-suup uniform to showcase their voluntary services to the Nation.

The Public Health Engineering Division, Ministry of Health initiated to pilot a two-year Rural Sanitation & Hygiene Project across the country in selected Dzongkhags.  The project aimed to improve the health of the rural populace by encouraging access to sanitary & hygienic toilets. Wangdue Phodrang Dzongkhag was one of the pilot Dzongkhags and has achieved 87.3% of Pour Flush Toilet coverage in the two-year pilot phase of the project. Out of 15 gewogs under Wangdue Phodrang Dzongkhag, three gewogs; Athang, Gase Tshogom and Gase Tshowom achieved 100% Pour Flush Toilet coverage.

 

Coinciding the World Toilet Day Celebration on 19th November 2017, the Gups and the Health Workers of Athang, Gase Tshogom and Gase Tshowom gewogs joined the celebration in Trongsa to receive medals and certificates for achieving 100% Pour Flush Toilet coverage. The Dzongkhag Administration would like to congratulate the Gups, Health Assistants and Health Workers, Local Leaders and the general public of Athang, Gase Tshogom and Gase Tshowom gewogs for the recognition and achievement of 100 % result.

 

The Dzongkhag Municipal Office recently constructed a Public Toilet at the cost of Nu. 1.3 million for the public in Bajo town. The handing-taking of the newly constructed public toilet was done on 19th November 2017 coinciding the World Toilet Day and the toilet was handed over to Dr. Toilet who will look after the overall management of the toilet.  The toilet is a pay-and-use toilet which will charge Nu. 5 per use per individual.

 

Inauguration of the toilet was graced by Dasho Dzongdag in presence of the Representative of the Dratshang, Thromdey Representative, Proprietor of DR. Toilet and the public. The Dzongkhag Administration would like to congratulate the public for having a convenient restroom. Please have consideration for the next person and leave the toilet clean. Enjoy the visit.

 

 

Handing and Taking of Hara Chhu Capture Fishery Management Plan (HCFMP) under Athang gewog was graced by Dasho Dzongdag in presence of team from National Research Center for Rivereine & lake Fisheries, Haa, Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park, Regional Livestock Development Center and staffs from Dzongkhag administration and handed over to the Community Group comprising of 66 members as Hara Chhu Capture Fishery Management Group on 7th November 2017.

The communities of Rukha, Samthang, Lawa, Lamga and Migtena under Athang gewog are popularly known for their unique and traditional product ‘Nga Dosem’ which is prepared as smoked-fish by using traditional method of preservation. The process of making Nga Dosem was passed down to generations by illegally fishing from Hara Chhu and it became the main source of income for the communities. The harvesting and production of Nga Dosem was legalized to the community in 2010.

According to Mr. Tashi Dorji, the Chairman of the Hara Chhu Capture Fishery Management Group, Hara Chhu habitats six different species of fishes. The fishing and processing of Nga Dosem seasons starts from September to November every year.

The Dzongkhag Livestock Sector had discussed on the effective functioning of the group and the sustainable production and marketing of the product to benefit the group and the community at large.  

 

Dasho Dzongdag and the team witnessed the Vacuum packaging and the packaged product showcased for ready marketing.  The Vacuum Machine procured from Dzongkhag Development Grant was provided by the Dzongkhag Administration to the Group for packaging of the product.
