This inauguration ceremony is a historic day for the people of Wangdue Phodrang and an important milestone for the Ministry of Health since this Hospital will improve access to quality healthcare services to the people of 15 Gewogs under the Dzongkhag. In addition, people from Gasa and Punakha are also going to equally benefit from the services provided by this hospital. As highlighted by the Health Minister, Jatshokha hospital is also identified as one of the Trauma centres providing specialized trauma care and rehabilitation. A dialysis facility is also under consideration by the Ministry of Health. By bringing these much-needed services nearer to the people, it will save significant time for the people of Wangdue and nearby Dzongkhags. At the same time, it can aid in streamlining the referral process and reduce the burden on the National Referral Hospital in Thimphu.

Thank you PHPA for funding and undertaking the construction of the hospital and the Ministry of Health for considering Wangdue Dzongkhag for the location of such a hospital in the country.

The hospital is now taken over by the Dzongkhag Administration from the Ministry of Health with effect from today. (16th June 2019)
